Who we are
We are disciples of Jesus, promising—with God’s help—to love and serve the Lord.
We are part of the Episcopal Church of New Hampshire, and part of—in the words of Presiding Bishop Micheal Curry—“the Episcopal Branch of the Jesus Movement.”
With roots in both Plymouth (where the Church of the Holy Spirit was founded in 1924), Ashland (St. Mark’s dates to 1855), and at the Holderness School, we live, work, learn, and play in places all over the Pemi-Baker Valley, and beyond. Our community gathers not only from Plymouth and Ashland, but from Wentworth and Warren, Thornton and Campton, Center Harbor and Rumney, Waterville Valley and Holderness, Bristol and New Hampton, and beyond. Our ties to Plymouth State University and the Holderness School connect us to students from far and wide. We delight in the seasonal return of members who spend summers or winters with us, and welcome you to join in worship and activities while you share the glories of the lakes, rivers, and mountains of this corner of God’s Creation we call home. We joyfully embrace our call to “welcome the stranger as Christ himself,” and invite you into our community for as long (or as short) as you are with us.
Statement of affirmation and welcome: Emmanuel Church and Canterbury@PSU welcome all who seek to know and follow Jesus. The presence and ministry of all people— including of different gender identities, sexual orientations, races, economic statuses, cultural backgrounds, abilities, and faith backgrounds—is invited, welcomed, and honored.
